NEW DELHI - The number of owls in India is declining and the Government of India know exactly who the cause. They blame Harry Potter is considered eliminating the owl population.
Indian Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh said, madness Indians against the Harry Potter owl trigger purchases illegally."Because Harry Potter, like many upper middle class citizens who give gifts to their children owl," Ramesh said as quoted by the BBC on Thursday (11/04/2010).
A conservation group Traffic urged the government to immediately take firm action on this emerging trend. Traffic also requested the Government of India to protect the owl to be sacrificed to the Hindu ceremony, Diwali.
